Mabel emigrated to America to be with her sister Margaret  Palmer  who must have emigrated to America before Mabel. See below for information.

Anyhow, William John, the husband of Mabel, died on July 5, 1911, of a sudden case of Meningitis. Then Mabel and the two young boys travelled to America to live with Mabel’s older sister Margaret, married to Frederick McCurry. They travelled on the ship the Columbia, in 1911.

The record says that they were going to stay with the McCurry’s, who were then living in New York City. But, by the time the 1920 census was taken, Mabel wasn’t listed with her sons and sisters family. We presume she had died sometime before 1920. So, William John McCracken and Samuel Palmer McCracken, the sons of Mabel are living with their aunt and cousins in Philadelphia in 1920.

Communication from Brittany Mc Cain and Michael McCracken in America.

Brittany and Mike also supplied the Draft Military Card which is in two parts below.  Not only does it give the address of Fredrick and his wife:

It gives his date of birth [there is a record on the LDS web site that is similar- just one year out]

and also describes the height, hair and eye colour of Fredrick and even tells us his occupation
